Believe you me, making a no-budget feature is no easy job. For a start you have to realise that you're committing yourself to anything between two and four years of hard frustrating work, and you can't expect to get anything other than demands that you do a load of pointless paperwork from any of the funding bodies. But if you stick at it, things do finally start to get easier.

Let's face it, you have to prove yourselves, and the only way of doing that is to demonstrate that you are finally going to deliver. It seems as though, once you're about 75% shot the band-wagon starts to roll.

That's the situation with regards to 'Bad Lad'. Recently interest has started coming from several companies involved in film sales, marketing and finance. Companies such as Aventine Media, Boudicca Films (www.boudiccafilms.com), Victor Film Co (www.victor-film-co.demon.co.uk) and Rayon Films (www.rayon.com.au) in Australia.

Aventine Media specialises in sale and leaseback agreements and has its own film marketing division. As their supremo, Kaspar Strandskov said, "I like your attitude to film-making...get in touch next time you're in London and I'll make sure that we can fit you in.

Boudicca Films is run by Ray Brady, director of, amongst other films, 'Boy Meets Girl', the notorious sexual torture horror film that was, until very recently, banned in the UK. Boudicca is committed to raising the profile of UK low-budget production and distribution. By a strange coincidence Ray Brady comes from the same part of Lancashire as we do - but we're definitely not part of an old-boy network - honest!

The Victor Film Co distributes films by the likes of indie directors Kevin Smith and Vadim Jean, and they're one of the few organisations who've encouraged Bad Lad from the start.

And lastly there's Australia's Rayon Films, that's run by Oz's flamboyant answer to Roger Corman, Garnet Mae. As Garnet said about Bad Lad, it "Sounds great! You guys really rock!"
