In a word, AWESOME. Much better than anticipated, funny than expected and more professional than some blockbusters. The audience saw this too, and the applause after confirmed this. Wait till it hits London. The Bad Lad Cometh

I had an extraordinary experience last week in The Kings Arms, Salford. It was Weds 23rd Feb, (3 days before the Bad LAd Preview at the AMC) and I was watching Neal Bell and Stella Grundy perfoming Kathy Crabbs new play '15 minutres with you' - which was great. However throughout this I was aware of a guy who kept looking at me. Later in the bar he came up to me and asked in an American accent 'Are you Joe O'Byrne?' 'Yeh' 'Wow! I can't believe it, I watched you in a great movie last night - DIARY OF A BAD LAD - Jesus Christ - you scared the shit outta me, I was frightened of asking if it was you - fantastic performance man - better and more real/scarey than Layer Cake' We got chattin, a lovely man and film maker - his name? Bruno Coppola! Can't wait to meet again Bruno and have a few beers, your support since watching Bad Lad has beeen fantastic and really encouraging. JOE

The Screening

What can I say? Stunning/breath taking, it looks fantastic and sounds incredible (Simon Auster you are a genius). It was very emotional for me before the film started, Bruno was great and generous and Jonathan and Michael even more so, and then the film kicked in. There is a real emotional wallop from the film at the end, a modern tragedy that works on so many levels.

It was fantastic to see the reaction of the audience afterwards, the interviews in the foyer, people desperate to talk to anyone involved in the makin and give their feedback. It was very exciting and an incredible buzz. Thanks to the KINO guys for letting us in so late (John/Steve/Angela/JB etc) I kept thinking Jonathan Ross was gonna pop out any minute. This was a preview - wot will the PREMIERE be like?
