That show sounds like it was quite good and interesting....hopefully it might be repeated at some stage *fingers crossed*

Will have to keep an eye open.....of course, if it was a BBC prog then it'd probably be on the wonderful iPlayer by now! I <B) iPlayer. <B)

Stuart Maconie's TV Towns - I probably stopped reading when I got to Stuart Maconie...no offence to him but I'm afraid the name means nothing to me. If it had been advertised as TV Towns with Stuart Maconie, it might have sunk in as something I'd like to watch. Not sure that I would have expected Chris to appear in it though! Thank goodness it wasn't something new with him in that we missed!

Why would you shut the door to a policeman who was just checking you were OK, what did he have to hide on not letting them in?

He has a very nice garden though... for a Blackburn resident :)

Perhaps out of principal? I thought a warrant was required to enter a persons home.

I would have been polite and said "come in", offered them a brew, and explained that I fell of the sofa, something smells of fish... and it ain't Alan Partridge. We are not getting the full story here.

I can't believe he is trying to say that the police turned up, he shut the door on the bobbies foot so they sprayed him pepper spray? The report claims that the police said he became aggressive... Why would you become aggressive? There is a massive hole in the story here, its a bit cloudy at the part when the police arrive.

It looks like he is holding a vendetta against them...

He thinks he has the last laugh by embarrassing the police via the media... They'll be watching him like a hawk now, waiting for him to step out of line.

I think he has a secret stash of laughing gas. Heard him interviewed on the radio long after H.I.G.N.F.Y. had finished, and he was still giggling like a loon. I'm thinking of offering him a contract in my rent-an-audience division, there's a few sit-coms could do with his services.

He should consider himself lucky the police are issued with pepper spray these days. When they visited him during the last series of HIGNFY they just punched his teeth out.

Edit: Bollocks - someone already did a teeth gag

Just read a review of the film The Incredible Hulk that is the most enjoyable one I've read for some time. It was by Peter Bradshaw, writing for The Guardian, and can be read in full HERE. These are the first few paras from it...

"Hulk. Smash!" Yes. Hulk. Smash. Yes. Smash. Big Hulk smash. Smash cars. Buildings. Army tanks. Hulk not just smash. Hulk also go rarrr! Then smash again. Smash important, obviously. Smash Hulk's USP. What Hulk smash most? Hulk smash all hope of interesting time in cinema. Hulk take all effort of cinema, effort getting babysitter, effort finding parking, and Hulk put great green fist right through it. Hulk crush all hopes of entertainment. Hulk in boring film. Film co-written by star. Edward Norton. Norton in it. Norton write it. Norton not need gamma-radiation poisoning to get big head. Thing is: Hulk head weirdly small. Compared with rest of big green body.

Hulk not scary. Hulk look like Shrek. Wait. Critic have ... second thought. Hulk look like Shrek when Shrek turn handsome, in Shrek 2. Like Gordon Brown. Hulk rubbish. Hulk not look powerful. Especially when Hulk do jumpy bouncy floaty thing. Over New York buildings. Then Hulk look wussy. Big. Yet wussy. Not good combination.

Stan Lee have big cameo. Stan Lee keen on self. Previously Stan Lee just glimpsed. Now Stan in it for 30 seconds. Or more. Stan clearly on roll. Stan even give Robert Downey Jr cameo. As Iron Man. This very irritating. Audience supposed to be excited. Audience nod off. Long ago.

After all that, not sure why Peter bothered to even give it 1 star out of 5! Also heard a slating of it from James King on Radio 1 today. I can't comment on it myself, as I haven't seen it, but has anyone here seen it and can maybe say anything positive about it?...

It's rare that I agree with him... I tend to switch off and put on a CD when he comes on.

Don't laugh.. It's not funny

Street sweep truck sucks up dog

A street-sweeping truck has sucked a dog up through its bristles on a New York street, leaving its horrified owner holding nothing but the lead.

Robert Machin, 57, had just finished walking his two Boston terriers in the Bronx and was about to load them into his car when the truck appeared.

He recalls being whipped around, only to glimpse Ginger meeting her end in the sweeper's round brushes.

City sanitation officers described the dog's death as "rare and unfortunate".

But Mr Machin, a retired public transport worker, questioned whether the driver had been observing proper procedures.

The truck, he said, seemed to have been barrelling through the street at an unsafe speed.

Truck chase

Man on the moment a street-sweeping truck sucked up his dog

"It happened so fast," he told the New York Daily News.

"It spun me around, and as it spun me around, I caught a last glimpse of her.

"I was devastated. I was completely dumbfounded and shocked. I mean, I just witnessed my dog sucked up into a street sweeper."

He said he had chased the truck for about two and a half blocks, shouting for the operator to stop.

The driver eventually came back but refused to turn off the whirring brushes that had crushed Ginger, until he arrived, the paper adds.

The Department of Sanitation offered its condolences to Mr Machin and his family but added: "It is important for all New Yorkers to remember to maintain the safety of their animals while walking city streets."

Ginger's master who, according to the New York Daily News, plans to contact the Humane Society and hire a lawyer, said his lost dog had been like family to him.

"My children are all grown up," he said.

"These two dogs, they're my life," he added, choking back tears

That does sound like a scene from Pushing Daisies.
