Alex Cox, director (and actor/writer/producer) of feature films including Repo Man, Sid & Nancy, Straight To Hell, Walker, Highway Patrolman, Three Businessmen & Revengers Tragedy (and ex-host of the fantastic BBC show Moviedrome) managed to get hold of a copy of our first feature Diary of a Bad Lad at an event in Liverpool. The next day we received his comments via email. He's recently allowed us to publish them here, which we are very proud to do so. Read on for his comments.
Thanks for giving me the temporary version of BAD LAD which I watched late last night. You are to be congratulated. It's very polished, with a very high standard of acting, and you have done fantastically well on such a limited budget.
You have set an example to all the other members of the NWPD by showing that ambitious feature-length projects are really possible. I wish they would pay attention to what you're doing, and spend less time on their websites and their ten minute shorts.
I wasn't so keen on the rape scene or the guy's dick being cut off. Didn't really think they were necessary. But maybe this is what they call extreme cinema, and some people might like it.
Good temp music, too. If you want to get Pray for Rain to do the soundtrack (assuming you can raise some dosh... they're in San Francisco and have to pay rent on their studio) you can contact Dan Wool at danwool@***.net
Best regards,
And looking forward to the next one,
Alex
